In my previous job as an HR associate in a consultancy, my take-home salary was 8K. I had 5 months of experience when I left that job due to personal issues. After 2 months, I got a job in a BPO as an HR executive where my take-home salary became 7.5K. Now my question is, will this dip in salary affect my future increment? Please help me out with this as I am truly worried.

A dip in salary will not affect your career. Anyhow, experience with BPO is better than consultancy. Increments and appraisals will be purely based on performance and not on the previous company salary. It is better to take the offer and perform well.

Thank you so much for your reply, sir. I would still like to clear my doubts a bit. I am working with this BPO now at the specified salary. My question remains, when I am next going for a job change, how much hike can I quote for?

I totally agree with Jeev. For the next hike, it totally depends on your negotiation skills, total experience, and your stability at one workplace. The better you justify, the better hike you will get.

Hi Prarthana, I believe you are still with the same BPO. My advice is not to look for any change as of now. First, try to stick around for a while, learn, and justify your performance.
Advice for HR Professionals
My advice to HR professionals is not to be job hoppers. It is not advisable for HR professionals. The reason is that as HR professionals, we are looking for candidates to stay for the long term, and we also need to stick around for the long term. Only then will we get better positions in any organization. :)
