  • Thank you for sharing this report. Could you please tell me what value needs to be put in arrear EPF wages, arrear EPF EE share, arrear EPF ER share, and arrear EPS share? Please help me, dear, with an example.

Hi Kusum, if there are any arrears of EPF wages either from the employee (EE) or employer (ER) from previous months, you should mention them. In normal cases, there will be none. However, in certain cases, if there are any arrears, you should mention them. 

Following are the mistakes committed by me:

    1. I didn't remove the first line which contains the headings, for example, member ID.
    2. The dates I entered were in the dd-mm-yy format.
    3. The member IDs I wrote included the establishment ID, for example, 2451601, but it should be 1.
    4. I converted a .csv file directly into a .txt file instead of copying the same data to a new .txt file and saving it.

    1. Open the .xls file, then save it as a .csv (in MS-DOS mode).
    2. Right-click on the .csv file, open with Notepad, and save it with the file extension name as .txt.
    3. Open the text file, go to the edit option, and replace "find what" with "," and replace it with "#~#", then remove the header row before uploading.

  • All the date formats should be in DD/MM/YYYY format. For example, Error Code 025) DOJ EPF 1/8/2012 (Field 21) - incorrect date format on line number 54. The date should be written as 01/08/2012, not 1/8/2012.

Since March, I have been submitting the EPF contributions using the Excel format only. However, my system got corrupted, and I lost all the files. I was using an old version which was good and easy. I am unable to find that format now; the current one is completely different.

I was using the Excel file format since March 2012, but I downloaded a new one in May 2012.

    1. The first sheet is an introduction where we can edit anything.
    2. The second sheet is where we need to fill in all the names, wages, contributions, etc.
    3. We should update the month and year; the sheet will automatically calculate all the figures like 2%, and we are not able to edit anything else.

All the calculations filled in the challan are used while submitting online after uploading the ECR Excel file. This process is straightforward. Please let me know if you can assist with this and send me the file.

The attachment in your ECR format is okay, but some columns remain blank. In the future, it is compulsory to fill in details such as the nominee and date of birth. During the preparation of my ECR file, I completed all the columns and uploaded it. However, an error occurred regarding the date of birth format (DD/MM/YY).

    Thank you.
