Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research is a part of Shikshana Prasaraka Mandali, Pune. It is an educational institution in Maharashtra and was established in 1888 to promote and impart quality education. Today, it has under its umbrella more than forty educational institutions in India, prominent among them being Ruia College of Arts & Science, Podar College of Commerce, and S.P. College, Pune.
Foundation and Programs
Recognizing the profound need for high-quality management education, the institute was founded under the aegis of the University of Mumbai in the year 1977. In 1984, Welingkar's introduced a two-year full-time program, the Master of Management Studies (MMS) of the University of Mumbai. In 1993, a two-year full-time autonomous course in management studies, the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) recognized by the AICTE, Government of India, was introduced. Apart from the MMS and PGDBA courses, the institute also offers a number of part-time degree and diploma courses affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
