Hi,

In our factory, a fatal accident occurred a few days ago involving an employee who belongs to the contractor workmen. In this regard, insurance officials conducted an inquiry and asked for the submission of his salary certificate, death certificate, postmortem report, etc.

My query is about the format in which the contractor has to submit the salary certificate. Kindly suggest.

Dear Mantu,

The format of the salary certificate is not provided in any of the labor laws. However, it is clarified that the rate of wages should be written in the Service Certificate to be issued by the contractor under the Contract Labor (R&A) Act and Rules. You may also present a copy of the wage slip issued by the contractor under the Minimum Wages Act and Rules in Form XI. If the insurance officer is not satisfied, then ask him to provide the format for issuing the salary certificate; otherwise, the contractor should be instructed to issue a simple salary certificate.

Dear R.N.Khola sir,

I am working in a construction company as a back-office executive and receiving a salary in cash, i.e., Rs 10,000/- without any deductions. Therefore, I need a salary certificate for a bank loan purpose.

Could you please send me the salary certificate format?

Thanks & Regards,

Anushka

Dear Anushka,

You can utilize your own sample salary certificate. In place of basic salary, you are to write consolidated salary. Even though it will be better to inquire from the bank itself for the draft of the salary certificate. You will have to approach the bank for a loan, then you can also ask for this formality along with other formalities.
