Hi, I have just moved to Dubai and am looking for a job. I came across this consultancy named: AL QABAS INT'L AL BUHAIRAH, SHARJAH. They charged me AED 100 and later asked for AED 300 for conducting interviews. Meanwhile, I received a call from a company named "Core Element," which turned out to be another fake company. I don't want anyone else to fall into their trap, so be careful, guys. While searching on the net, I also found this link: Dubizzle.com - Discuss - Fake Employers in Dubai Regards, Praveen

Dear Praveen,
You are 100% correct. There are people who are trying to cash in on these bad times of jobless situations as well. I too came across one of our employees who received an offer/opportunity to be employed in a Free Zone Government-established Organization, provided that this person pays upfront through Western Union. The individual keeps calling through their cell phone number. I am uncertain if they own that number or if it is under a fake name.
I am wondering how to report these numbers and cases to the authorities. Just imagine the plight of those ignorant people trying their luck to get a good break? I am sure some of them may fall into this trap of paying upfront as well.

There is no point in giving any type of service charges to recruitment agencies. If they ask you for money, 100% sure they are fake. Charging a recruitment fee from the candidate is illegal in the UAE, according to the UAE Ministry of Labour.

Thank you for the information. Isn't it happening in India?
While taking interviews (8 months back), it came up anonymously by 2-3 candidates that they were charged some registration fee (Rs. 500 to 1000) for interview line-up (new & local consultants in Delhi). Since I find it a poor practice, I requested the HR person "not to call candidates from such consultant quoting the same reason. HR person supported me and did the same.
Our HR team also included it in the policy (candidates are not charged any amount on the name job assurance / registration / interview line up) before engaging any consultant.

Hi, I am a Placement Consultant based in New Delhi. I have been working for the last 4 years and have successfully placed over 100 candidates in reputable companies.
I am aware that some consultants charge registration fees ranging from 100 to 500 Rs. I would like to inform everyone that it is advisable to register your profile on job portals such as Naukri.com, Monster.com, Timesjobs.com, and utilize search engines like Google. There is no need to pay any charges for registration as these are not educational institutes.
These platforms mainly target freshers seeking job opportunities. They have partnerships with companies and may organize mock interviews, providing incentives to their staff. Freshers are advised that there are numerous job vacancies available; all you need is a willingness to relocate, a positive learning attitude, and a drive to excel.
In conclusion, there is no requirement to pay any fees to consultants for registration, commission, or any other purpose.

Hi Dude,
Do you have a list of reputed consultants in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait? I'll be thankful if you could do this favor.
Moreover, I'm looking for a list of reputed Oil & Gas companies. Actually, I'm writing an article on HR strategies being implemented by Oil & Gas companies in the Gulf Region for the Society of Human Resource Management.
Some days back, I requested the same from a senior member of this site but have not received any response so far.
Appreciate your early response, please.

Hi Praveen,
I too received a call from Core Elements. They were previously located in a 20th-century building near the clock tower in Dubai, but now they have shifted to another place. I attended an interview there, and after the interview, they asked for AED 150 to forward my resume to a potential employer. I did not pay any amount as my brother-in-law advised against it. I managed to avoid falling into their trap.
These types of fake consultancies set up their offices, obtain a landline phone connection, and an email address for only 6-8 months. After this period, they change all these details. Candidates, especially those on visit visas, often fall victim to their schemes and end up wasting their time.
This situation is ongoing, and it is concerning that the authorities are not taking any action against these fraudulent practices. Furthermore, I watched a documentary on a Malayalam news channel about "Euro Asia Management Consultancy," which is also a fraudulent organization that deceives candidates. It is essential to be cautious and watch out for such scams.
Best regards.

Core Elements / Coreelementsmc Dubai, they will call you and say, "One of our prestigious clients has asked us to interview YOU." Once you are at their office, they will charge you Dhs 150, and you will never receive any call from them. In Dubai, such cheats are everywhere. BE CAREFUL.

Hello there.
Well... we cannot say about their legal entities. But there are some people who had to pay registration fees, and there is a guy sitting sharing the office with a Manpower (Labour/Maid Supply) agency. This person assures a minimum of 2/3 interviews but no guarantees. Some of them paid and never received any calls as well. The suggestion is to try the reputed agencies. There are several in the UAE.

Hello there.
Well, we cannot say much about their legal entities. It's not correct on our part to comment on any specific agency. However, there are some people who had to pay registration fees, and there are attendants sitting and sharing such offices at Manpower (Labour/Maid Supply) agencies. These individuals assure you of a minimum of 2 to 3 interviews but provide no guarantees. Some of them have paid and never received any calls as well.
Our suggestion is that you try the reputed agencies. There are several in the UAE.
Have a good day!

Dear All,
Charging for recruitment is definitely illegal. Charging fees for job search assistance, i.e., resume writing, interview coaching, and/or marketing strategies is a different matter.
If someone asks you to pay a fee for access to an employer... run!
Kind regards,
Bruncha

One more bogus recruitment agency is operating from Ajman. They will place their adverts for admin positions in online forums and then call the candidate to their office for form filling and charge AED 100/- as admin charges (AED 50/- refundable) if they do not line up any interviews. But then, after a few days, you get a call for some placement promise for a company, and then you are requested to shell out AED 300/- for visa charges. The job seekers targeted are those on visit visas. They are easy prey because visit visa holders are in desperate need and have time limitations/constraints of their stay in the UAE, hence they fall easily into this trap. Please be aware of such murky, phony job interview calls.
Things You Should First Ask for Any Interview Call/Your CV Selected Call:
1. Name of the person who is on the call.
2. Agency Name, Phone Number, Website address. Source from where they received your CV.
3. Position & Package they are offering you and if it suits you, before you take any efforts to reach the destination.
4. Check the company website. Make sure it is a well-known agency in the UAE.
5. DO NOT PAY A SINGLE FILS upfront. Most agencies charge the companies for placing a potential candidate.
Best of Luck.
