Hi all,

I am an HR Executive in an Event Management company. I am making a few amendments to the existing leave policy, which is not very organized. Can anyone enlighten me on the leave policy, particularly on sick leave? Is it true that only employees entitled to ESI are eligible for sick leave? Also, when will privilege leave come into effect from the date of joining of the employee?

Dear Asifa,

I would suggest referring to the Shop and Establishment book for a better understanding of the leave policy. This book covers contract employees, employees on the rolls, maternity leave, and compensatory off. Additionally, you will need to maintain leave cards for each employee, which will assist you in the salary processing.
