Dear Seniors;
I asked this question few months back too. But I still have doubts please answer few of my queries and I would be thankful to you all:
I am working with one of India's most reputed brands in auto industry. I joined exactly 6 months from now. My company have distribution network and I am into sales. Now the queries are as following:
My boss is always rude and use pathetic language.
He wants me change the orders of the dealers and bill them something which they never asked for. Later if any problem arises he refuses and says that the sales officer did it.
Every now and then he tells me that from where have you done your MBA. Where I have done it from Pune University and he has done it through distance learning.
The stock in demand is never provided and I am forced to sell items which are not in demand or which the dealers already have in abundance.
I am made to work on sundays and national holidays without any compensatory off.
The office timings are from 9.30 to 5.30. I am made to work late which is not a problem but I am told that the office leaving time should be entered as 5.30 even if I leave at 9.
So my basic question is should I leave the organisation as people working here have not even got a grade promotion for past 3 years.
Any advice from the seniors would be greatly appreciated.

Dear,
It is not only your problem...rather many of the employees especially in Sales face the same situation... It is rightly said that 80% of the employees quit their jobs coz of their bosses.... My simple advice would be that dont do anything that you are not happy doing... If possible have a one to one with your boss, ask him about the problem or else the better solution would be to mail your HR about your condition.... Normally any complaints against any employee is kept confidential.. so why not give it a try,....why will you work hard and somebody else will take the credit...

Thanks for the inputs Ms. Monica. But Its been seen that if someone complains out of the hierarchy then life is not easy for him. So my present mindset is to keep on working here since I don't want to hop jobs I am fresh MBA with only 6 months of experience and will make a bad Impact for me in future. I really don't know what to do but the only thing I know is that I am not happy here. I have not got a single leave in last 6 months even when the company policy allows 40 leaves in a year. I just don't know what to do.

dear Friend,
full sympathy with you! however I believe at some point you're equally responsible for the same.
this is a corporate world were relations, honesty, hard work, respect etc are considered as demerits.
escalating your boss's issue with HR is nothing else but a suicidal attempt! that will make your work and work place hell! believe me!
this behavior normally happens when the subordinate is more capable than boss. the Boss develops a high level of insecurity and starts plotting game against you. at the same time you also can't afford to be a rebellion as well. since you seem to be an MBA professional with a reputed institute and he being from a distant learning, this is bound to happen.
ironically such instances take place under big brand names.
BUT YES, DO NOT involve yourself in any kind of misdeed what so ever instructed by such "a**oles", because that's another way of showing you an exit path.
try looking for a better option. I know such morons exists everywhere but at least you'll find a better one than before/existing. Your body language also plays a vital role in such situations. Never let anyone feel/pretend that you got immensibly hurt with boss's rude/sarcastic statement or behavior, because if you do so, you are boosting his moral to do it again with you. NEVER LET ANYBODY KNOW YOUR WEAKNESS" a big thumb rule of corporate.
lastly the biggest advice :-
YOU WILL BE IN SHIT ONLY IF YOU TAKE IT !! Choice is urs!!
apologies for harsh words! but that's a truth
Happy working!!

Hello My dear friend,
I understand your postion. I think you are reeling under pressure selling which was in vogue in some corporate companies. I don't take sides, but why don't you think like your boss for some time? For example, if you have stocks which have no demand, what is the company supposed to do? Is it not money to the company? If you get stocks of what is demanded, would you like to sell a product which has no demand or lying as dead stock? In fact, many managers will tell sales people to sell unsaleable items as saleable items can be sold with out much effort. Under pressure selling this is common. Please look into this logic.
Secondly, I never heard timings for salesmen. In fact, sales people with dealer network in FMCG or consumer durables, or even pharma guys also start working after 5 pm.
OK, using abusive language or hurting and insulting language is one's own attitude which will not work positively.
But let me tell you this kind of selling is conceptually traditional management. In modern management, mangers have planning and strategies as effective weapons and see that these situations do not arise.
Any way, don't take hasty step and leave the company before some thing is there in your hands. Good Luck.

I agree to you Sir but the issue is that the material is being dumped and once it is done the manufacturing code becomes old and then the dealers dont get replacments and this is not happening just now its been a trend now and
it is such a reputed company and once the dealers already have stock of a particular model they do not place order for more of same type and we usually have a practice where in we have blank checks of the dealers. And at the time of closing they are billed something which they would never be able to sell. So you are telling me that I should think like my boss give them what is not required and then next day visit them and ask for a new order.
