Greetings!
I am working in Payroll Department in a firm in south delhi, we hired an Admin manager 2 months back & now he come up with the ideas that we have to do Police vitrification of all existing employees, now employees are raising voice for the issue as they are saying we are working here since 3 years or 4 years why we are questioned now???
Please explain is it legal to do police verification of all employees who are already working with our company more than 6 months & even people with 20 years also there.
For new joining we can do easily but for existing employees is it legal??

everything can be done in peaceful manner
you must have ESIC /EPF registrations
ask the employees to submit copies of the KYC documents (bank details/ PAN/Aadhar) copies with filling form 11 for EPF and declaration form for ESIC
also offer them a foto identity card, where the blood group is also mentioned, (outsource any agency for this job)
you will see that they will submit all documents for verification,

Hello Nishu,
Every Company have all rights to review its policies at any point and time if required. No employee have rights to question their decision. Hence, its totally ok to have a verification done for existing employees if organization demands for it.

Many companies are insisting on Antecedent Certificate for employees like Housekeeping, Security and Drivers. Even, Police Department is insisting to do those employees (legally). Even, fees for antecedent certificate is displayed in Police Department Website.
Antecedent Certificate is not a bad thing to collect from all other employees also. Few companies are started implementing. It should be treated like a Medical Certificate (It is common procedure in Marine/Shipping Companies even for Administration & Office staffs).

what is the job profile of company and why the PV is required? think about this fact once.
KYC documents can be asked to get submitted with EPFO and ESIC, where almost every record is found which would be traced under PV, ( except any police case, if any)
share the nature of company activities, in brief and employee roles , so that the esteemed members can put their views more clear way

@U S Sharma Sir company is in manufacturing & trading of healthcare products . Employees are engaged in marketing, filed job, manufacturing of products & accounts/admin etc.
@Saravanan KYC is done for EPFO/ESIC & documents are available in their employee files too but problem is that our organization is not very big, everybody will get information about PV & second thing people are not ready to give finger prints which are compulsory in PV form.
if it is legal than i can put straight notice to them for coordination in the process.

Nishu

aadhar card itself have finger prints, recorded with govt. so ask them to provide aadhar for seeding with ESIC/EPFO i don,t think that PV is mandatory, except the bank or NBFC cases for small firms,

Police Verification is not mandatory by law except for few industries. As for as, your organization is concerned, there is no law written that PV/antecedent certificate is mandatory. Of course, there is also no law states that getting PV is wrong.
My suggestion will be conduct a survey among employees and record it. Propose to your management about those interview/survey records. As per your post, only your newly recruited Admin Manager is come up with the idea. It is the duty of the HR to convey the management about the resistance as you should put yourself in the shoes of your workers. If management decides to come up with this change, then you have to handle the situation like convincing the employees to the change. It is normal that you will get resistance from workers to change in organization policy.
