I have applied for the post of a team leader (operations) in which i am currently working.
In case in the interview if they ask what challenges i foresee while i am taking the new role in the same team and how wil
i resolve that issue.
What is the best way to answer the question.

Sticking to my normal trait of asking questions rather than answering questions, let me ask you some. How large is the team that you are presently working and can you kindly tell us what differences you find in the work that you do and that your team leader does? If you can articulate the extra challenges that your team leader faces when compared to what you do; you will have answered your question.

Thank you Nashbramhall
I am currently a team member (didnt specify this in my earlier query) Sorry
We are currently a team of 12-15 members. Typically Team members process customer requests , and they have targets to meet. I worked in the team for a couple of years so as others.
Team leader is the one who is involved in assigning the work, gauge team members performance , answering to stakeholders / business area about team performance. tracking targets, prepare reports, Provide guidance, Ensure if any internal conflicts are resolved and so on.
Therefore if i am TL what challenges i am likely to face for the same team and how should i over come them .
looking for some tips to answer the question if asked in an interview. i am looking for how best i can frame the answer.

Kindly answer my question? Did you not have a team leader till now? If you had one, had he been promoted from within? There is always a problem when a member is promoted from a team, if other members have also applied to become a team leader.
In a college setting, when one of the senior colleagues was promoted, people who had more experience felt aggrieved for a while and then the dust settled down. As a Team Leader, you will not be able to socialise the way you do now as a team member. People may construe your socialising as before as favouring some members. You need be seen to be impartial and fair and just in your dealings with team members and sorting any conflicts.
Have you noticed how your Team Leader performed those activities?

I know that you are not the team leader. Was or is there a team leader for your team?
