Hi, nice to share with you. You can conduct a fashion show where around 20 people from different cultures may be attending. You can instruct them to come dressed in ethnic attire. After a few panels, you can assess them through a catwalk, followed by a musical chairs competition.

Hi,

I need your suggestion in the following situation. One of our employees (a trainee) left the company abruptly without any personal intimation. She just sent an email to my boss stating that she joined another company through campus selection. She was very good; we even assigned a project to her. Due to this incident, we lost the business. She worked here for only 80 working days. We didn't issue an appointment letter as per our policy, which states that we issue appointment letters only after the submission of certificates for freshers.

Please suggest how we can take legal action against her.

Hi, nice to share with you.

You can conduct programs like Musical Chair Competition, Housie Housie Game, Singing Competition, and Monoacting, etc. Before winding up, arrange lunch or snacks and tea.

Wish you a happy New Year 2010.

Hi Vani, sorry for the late reply. You can't take any legal action. At least, you should give some formality to her, but you never gave that kind of letters. If you take legal action, the budget will be very high. Moreover, she is a fresher. She can easily say, "I am a fresher; I didn't receive any appointment letter." So, you will be at a loss, and it's better if you search for another good employee. You can concentrate on another project.

Vani,

Let me know if you didn't get enough ideas of games to be played within company premises. I can suggest you some innovative games that can be played within the office premises economically.

Hi,

I believe the following things are important for the best employee:
- Commitment of the employee to his/her job.
- Loyalty towards the organization, etc.

We can assess these qualities through the candidate's behavior as well.

Hi Vani,

You can play volleyball and enjoy the New Year. Not kidding, really. Well, for this, you don't need a net, ball, or playground. Divide into two teams. Sit comfortably in an office hall. One person has to start the game by serving. All he needs to do is call out the name of a member of the other team. The receiving member has to pass it by calling the name of his teammate. Furthermore, the teammate passes it to one more teammate, who in turn passes it to an opponent team member as two passes are already over in the same team. Hence, the game continues.

This, at the outset, seems simple, but it's difficult because people tend to forget the names of their colleagues. If one pauses or mumbles to call out a name, that team loses. Volleyball rules apply in passing: two passes among teammates and the third to the opponent team.

Every one of you is surely welcome to the New Year bursting out into laughter. I tried this on many occasions, and it turned out to be a grand success. It helps enhance cohesion among employees. All the best. You can contact me at 09458815208 if there is any difficulty in conducting the game.

All the best,

Dear Vami,

Please find my answer below:

a) Regarding your new year party:

You can play some skill tests (go to Manford website) and distribute prizes to the winners. Distribute prizes to the best employee of the year, the best performer in marketing, quality department, production, teamwork/leadership, etc.

The above tasks are time-consuming but engaging for the employees of the organization. They will not feel bored, and this will be a memorable day for them.

b) Regarding your legal action against the girl, please forget it and try to set up a system at your organization according to legal requirements. The appointment letter should be issued on the first day of her joining.

But in case you really want to take action against her, please reply to her about the project and inform her. If she doesn't reply to the project, then you can contact her current employer (though this may seem unprofessional) and submit a registration post of your company's grievances to him and the organization where she is currently employed.

After 15 days, you can submit a warning letter (if she doesn't reply to your post) and file a claim with the labor court. Please mention that all employment terms have already been verbally communicated to her, and she didn't sign the appointment letter while continuing the job from [date] till date.
