Hi,
I am totally at a loss for words at the way a recruitment consultant www.geniusjobs.com has dealt with my resume. I must have, at some point, posted my resume to them, either in response to an opportunity or not.
Today they sent me an email informing me that they have posted my resume on their website. They have, in fact, been so kind to have assigned me a username and password too, and from now on, I can look forward to innumerable job alerts.
I think this is taking things a little too far. If they ever wanted to put my resume on their website, the least they could have done is check with me. I believe I am a person of average intelligence and I can decide where and when I want to exhibit my resume in some public domain.
I feel as if my privacy has been impinged.

Hi,
Nice to see the message and voicing your views.
I would like to share with you my thoughts on this.
Fine with me in making this fake operator known. But let us not pass value judgments unless very sure.
Regarding applying online, I see both parties make mistakes.
Prospect:
a. Prospects looking for lucrative openings are attracted by the catchwords
- instead, they can go through a reliable/known consultant.
b. They apply online but do not update their status further, making contact difficult, particularly after shortlisting a candidate.
Consultant:
1. If they have a good hold, they can be genuine with the prospect; not overstate things and not act on their own.
2. In this high attrition period, they dump someone to keep the client happy.
I have come across a few cases where a leading online recruiter charges a fee with their prospective clients and provides resumes. In a particular case, they even submitted a working employee's resume to the client, thus making things difficult for the person working in the company.
Bye for now.

Hi,
This placement consultant in question had done something similar with one of my friends. Even without informing her, he used to forward her profile to a lot of MNCs and used to email her regarding interview schedules. I, too, believe he is a fraud.

Hi folks,
I have read your views, but honestly, I am not feeling the same as you all have stated. According to me, most of us post our resumes on different job sites and share our information there. If I am not wrong, we all have done this. Consultancies are meant to coordinate between companies and candidates. Some of us also forward our CVs to consultancies for good opportunities. So, what is hidden there? If the consultancy has not asked for any money from you and has posted your CV on its website, then how does it matter? It's good if you are receiving emails for interviews; you can always decide whether to go or not.
I still want to know what made you all think like that. I guess I am missing something that has clicked for all of you. Please let me know. I am waiting.
