Hi All,
I would like to seek some suggestions and help from all the senior members regarding the current scenario of recession. I am considering pursuing CCIE, a training program conducted by Cisco in networking.
CCIE costs almost 2.5 Lakhs and will take around 8 months to complete. I am currently in the GIS domain, but now I am interested in transitioning towards networking. In the field of networking, I have a diploma in hardware and networking and MCSE 2003 certifications.
I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Looking forward to your kind advice.

There is no doubt that CCIE is a good certification and it will add to your market value. However, it would be great if you could join an organization that sponsors such certifications for their employees as this helps them in generating higher revenue from their clients.

Dear RSB,
Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion. However, I would like to clarify one thing: for the past three years, I have been working in a different domain (GIS), and transitioning to a new domain will not be an easy task for me.

There is no use of CCIE certificate, if you dont have experience in that field for around 6-8 yrs. It would be good to go for CCNA first and then gain some experience in networking. Regds...cliffy

Hi,
You may proceed for CCIE as it's not an easy task, but it will be valuable for you in the next 2 to 3 years. My husband is also a CCIE, so he generally discusses things with me (current scenario). The rest is up to you, but before pursuing CCIE, you should start with some basics like CCNA or the basics of routing and switching.
Regards.
