I understand that PF is mandatory for "Foreign Workers" (International Workers) but how about other labor laws viz., I.D. Act, ESI, Gratuity, etc. Is the PF applicable even for trainees who come to our country for training purposes?

All international workers are covered by EPF. For deciding eligibility, there is no limit for salary as there is for Indian employees. In India, there is a limit of Rs 6,500, beyond which the employer is not bound to contribute.

ESI has not yet issued a notification extending coverage to international workers. However, for ESI, any individual who performs labor and earns a salary of not more than Rs 10,000 is covered. It is unlikely that an international worker in India would earn less than Rs 10,000. Additionally, ESI provides medical facilities to family members residing anywhere in India, which may not extend to the families of international workers in countries like the USA, Australia, or England.

The Industrial Disputes Act, primarily concerned with industrial relations, also applies to international workers if they qualify as workmen under the ID Act.

An international worker may be eligible for Gratuity after completing 5 years of service with an employer.

International trainees are exempt from EPF.
