Dear All,

One of our female employees recently got married, resulting in a change in her surname. She currently does not possess her marriage certificate or any form of identity proof.

She has applied for a PAN Card, and the authorities are requesting a company statement on official letterhead confirming her residency at the specified address for the specified period.

My question is whether we should issue such a letter to her. If so, what potential legal consequences might we face in doing so? Additionally, is there a specific format we should adhere to in order to mitigate any risks?

Please assist me with this matter.

Thank you.
