Dear sir,

We are following the model standing order. Recently, we received a letter from the Joint Commissioner of Labour in Chennai. He asked, "Do you have certified standing orders? If not, please prepare and send the draft standing order for certification."

My question is, "Is it necessary to have certified standing orders under the Standing Order Act? Kindly confirm with me.

Thank you.

Dear N. Siva,

If your unit is covered under The Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, then you are required to have standing orders certified from the Certifying Officer of your area under this Act.
