Hi All,
I have a query. My friend told me that his colleague recently joined his company in Bangalore by providing fake experience. The person claimed to have worked for New Dimension in Hyderabad on PeopleSoft - Financial. Now, my friend wants to disclose this to the management. However, he does not have any proof. He is concerned about tarnishing his own reputation. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vivek

Dear Vivek,
You cannot have the cake and eat it too. What I mean is that if your friend is sure that fake experiences have been posted, then let him reveal the fact and cannot avoid getting a bad name, especially from the affected individuals.
But think of the good, positive recognition your friend will get from the management. Your friend can write to the company in Hyderabad and receive a reply stating the fact that the person in question was not experienced in the same company. With this reply, you can manage the situation with the management.
Do not be sentimental regarding your duties and responsibilities.

Dhinakaran

Vivek,
This person got his enlightenment a bit too late. Even you should be careful of what you post... he may not like it if he finds out you posted the name of the company and location.
If he reveals to his management about his fake experience, he may be sued. Organizations are neither God nor parents to forgive. They want dependable employees of high integrity. He may be removed from the company to say the least.
I'm not advocating that he continue with his fake experience. Even senior people have perished at certain times in their careers for faking educational qualifications or experience or both.
If this person is shown the way out of his current organization, he can still build his career by truly gaining some experience, without having to fake any. Getting another job in this domain isn't difficult for the right candidate.
So it's ultimately his choice. Conscience or current job. If he chooses the former, then he builds a new, true career. If he chooses the latter, then he may have to live with the fake experience throughout his life. And one day it might just be found out, leading to disgrace.
Hope this helps.

Hi All,
Thanks for the suggestion. My main intention in posting about the company is to alert current and previous employees. I believe that the concerned HR who reads this article will take necessary action against the candidate, Mr. Phanindra Kumar. My friend is ready to approach management about addressing the issue, but without proof, nobody will believe the claims. Only a reference check will help in this situation. However, there is a concern that the new company, New Dimension, may support the candidate and provide false information.
Mr. Phanindra is currently employed in a big company in Bangalore. I am sharing these facts so that at least the concerned HR will take notice. This information is not meant to target anyone; it is purely to assist management in conducting necessary verification about the candidate.
Thanks,
Vivek

Dear Vivek,
From your second post, I presume that your friend is not in the HR team of his company but is working alongside the new colleague. If my presumption is correct, please ask your friend to approach the HR team and suggest conducting a thorough background check on his colleague. Your friend mentioned that his colleague provided false information to secure a position in the company, which could be detrimental. Encourage your friend not to be concerned about potential backlash from his colleague, as revealing such misconduct would ultimately benefit the company by exposing unethical behavior.
Please keep us updated on the situation, as knowing the course of action taken in such instances could assist others in devising strategies to identify and eliminate deceptive candidates.
Regards,
Samba Siva.

There is one more way where he won't have his name being spoiled or brought to light. Also, he will bring the matter to the attention of management. He can email about this issue to the management using a dummy email ID without giving more details about himself.
If he has already spoken to management, then it is fine if he is comfortable with that.
