Hi HR Experts,

I have a small question. If a person is moving to another corporate organization, will they ask for the original offer letter provided by the previous company for verification, or is just a photocopy enough? Please help me with this one.

Thanks :)

Hi,

It depends on your new company's HR policy. In general, your new employer will likely ask for your last drawn salary certificate and a copy of your relieving letter. You may even be asked to produce the originals. Many companies do not even provide an offer letter; instead, they directly issue the appointment order.

Hi,

More than an offer letter, if an Appointment letter is given, they will require a copy of the same if any of the components are not reflecting in the payslip. Mostly, the salary verification is done from the payslip to verify the current salary you have stated.

Hi,

Normally, you have to provide an appointment letter, payslip, and relieving letter. The offer letter is not that important, and some companies nowadays ask for Form 16 issued by the employer for the last financial year. Even a copy is acceptable. In most companies, in their job application form, they ensure a declaration from the applicant, and beneath that, the applicant signs. The essence of the declaration is that the information provided by you is true to the best of your knowledge, and no false information has been given. In the appointment letter, there is a clause ensuring that if the information provided by you is found to be false, the management has every right to terminate the services. Hence, all information and documents provided by the applicant should be genuine. In this context, even if it is a copy, the management has every right to take action.

Most companies conduct background checks, and only after the completion and correctness of the check is every employee recruited.

Applicants should be very careful and cautious when providing documents and information in the above circumstances.

Hi,

Nowadays, corporates are asking for the wage slip, which is more than enough. If they are requesting the original copy of the appointment order for verification, you can bring and show them the original, and in the job file, you can give them a photocopy of your appointment letter.

Dear Alamu,

First, they will issue an offer letter before joining. Later, once joined, the employer will issue an appointment letter. It depends on the company; normally, the company will ask for a photocopy of the offer/appointment letter. If the employer suspects that the letter is fake, they may request the original.

The photo copy must be having the mananger’s signature on it and you must have also signed the same, in this case the photocopy is authentic to show in a organization

The company will tell you what you need, so I can say that it all depends on the company perse. I advice you to just ask for people who have been there already.
