Hi, I have lost my experience letters from my first two companies due to a robbery during transportation. These two companies have since closed, and I had three years of experience working for them. In total, I have ten years of experience, including the three years from those companies.

Queries Regarding Experience Documentation

I have a few queries regarding this situation:

1. I am currently seeking a new job and would like to know if my experience will be considered as ten years or seven years, considering I do not have the original certificates from the first two companies.

2. Will a xerox copy of the experience letters from the first two companies be acceptable?

3. During my time in the UK, I had all the necessary documents. However, as I have now lost the experience certificates from the first two companies, if I were to go on-site in the future, would it be problematic if I were to explain that I lost those certificates and as a result, I am presenting seven years of experience instead of ten years?

Please advise me on these matters.

Thanks & Regards,

I didn't quite understand your second point. Can you please reframe your question about the Xerox of what? Is it the experience letters or something else?

If there are copies of the experience letters filed safely with you, I think your concern can be alleviated. You can present your three years of experience and also refer to the subject of the robbery in case any employer demands the original copies.

As per my understanding, if you have photocopies of the letters, they will be considered. There should not be any issues. It is simply a matter of logic that you will always need to submit photocopies instead of originals, unless they specifically ask for the originals.
