Dear Sanjiv,
This is not a revision in minimum wages; rather, it is an increase in minimum wages as already notified by the Haryana Government with effect from 01.01.2009. This increase is a result of the rise in the consumer price index number linked with minimum wages. It is important to note that due to an increase of Rs. 175.56, the total minimum wages for an unskilled worker have now become Rs. 3840.10, which is Rs. 3664.54 plus Rs. 175.56, totaling Rs. 3840.10, whereas the Haryana Government's letter states it as Rs. 3840.01. The same situation applies to other categories as well. I believe this discrepancy may have occurred due to a miscalculation with the calculator, where after adding these two amounts, it comes to Rs. 3840.1=. The calculator displays this figure, and this may have led the competent authority staff to consider it as Rs. 5840.01. I may be mistaken. The daily rate of wages this time appears to be correct.
This information is submitted for the general awareness of all the esteemed HR members in Haryana. If I am mistaken, please do correct the statement.
