I am looking for training assignments with leading firms in training services/providers. Currently, I hold a recruitment profile, an MBA in HR, and do not have any prior experience in training. Hence, I am not sure if I'll get a break in a training profile. Please guide me on how one should approach this and which firms I should consider. What kind of preparation should I undertake before facing an interview for a training position? I really want to change my profile as my current role no longer motivates me. Among all the functions in HR, training and development particularly fascinates me. I believe I could excel in soft skills training.

As suggested by Raghav, you need to first get a 'Train the Trainer' certification. You have not mentioned where you reside. Institutes like AIMA and ISTD (New Delhi) offer good certification. XLRI-Jamshedpur also runs this program once a year.
The second step would be to prepare sample modules of some 'soft-skill' topics and present them to the companies and upsell your concept.

You have mentioned that you've completed your MBA in HR. I am not sure what subjects in HR you have chosen. If training and development was one of your papers, you can highlight that in your resume. The alternative to doing a TTT program is doing a lot of self-study. Go online, search Google for various tools used by a good trainer. Most importantly, read and understand "Adult Learning Concepts."

I am based in Gurgaon. I believe the ISTD program is one and a half years in duration and is more like a distance learning program, which is why I am not very keen on it. I am not aware of the AIMA program; could you please provide more information on that?
