What are the legal provisions applicable for issuance of salary slips/salary certificate? In case of non payment of salary in time, can the salary slips be issued?

Dear Member,
If your unit is covered under the Minimum Wages Act of 1948, then you are required to issue wage slips to your employees one day prior to the disbursement of wages. For more details, please refer to Rule 26 of the Central Rules of 1950.

Wage slips are only issued under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, and the rules made thereunder. There is no provision that casts responsibility on the employer to issue wage slips under the Factories Act and the Payment of Wages Act.
