Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been working as an HR Executive in an ISO Certified Company (Domestic Call Centre for 150 seats) for 2 years at a salary of 7500/-. In the first year, it was 6500/-. I am solely in the HR department here, responsible for the recruitment process, joining formalities, PF and ESI formalities, attendance and leave management, issuing Appointment/Offer letters, maintaining the employee database in Excel, and handling employee grievances for 75 employees. I am currently pursuing my MBA 2nd Semester from PTU.
Could you please advise me if my company is providing me with the correct salary? I have received 2 offers from different consultancies but only for a recruitment profile. Should I consider changing my job to a consultancy/company offering a recruitment profile if they provide a salary above 10K?

Hi Shilki Rs 8500/- is not a good salary. You know recession is going on, don’t leave a job unless you didn’t get a job with handsome salary (Rs 1,50,000 - Rs 2,00,000).

Rs. 7500/- is very low. I think you should accept the offer of Rs. 10 K which is in your hands right now. After spending some time, you may try for new jobs. Actually, without changing jobs, you can never be successful (this is my personal experience), and you will see that after two years, you will be in a position to earn more than 20 K. I wish you all the best for your future assignments.

The salary you are earning is too low, but never compare a company with a recruitment firm. If you are not satisfied or looking for a change, then consider exploring opportunities in another company since you have experience in core HR activities. If you accept an offer from a recruitment firm, you will be limited to recruitment tasks and may not be involved in other core HR functions. If you solely focus on recruitments, you might not have the opportunity to transition back to a core HR role. Therefore, I suggest not leaving your current job and staying with the same company until this recession ends.

7,500 is quite a low salary. But you must first consider the job satisfaction. If you are satisfied with your job, then you must continue with your current job with this pay package only until the recession ends. If you are not satisfied with your job, then you must join the other firm.

I know this is something unusual, but I'm still your fan that you are still with your org. I want you to stay with them until you finish your MBA. Because, you never know, they can promote you to another level or you can look for a change. You are involved in core HR stuff, and I'm happy. The profile you have is simply great. Many don't get it so easily. Stick with it; that is my suggestion because now you have a lot of choices - you can move towards Compliances, Employee Relations, Recruitment, MIS as well.

I am working with a garment retail company that has branches in 6 parts of India, and I am working in one of its showrooms. My previous experience was as a recruiter (working for a consultant). I tried very hard to get into this with the help of one of my friends, and finally, it has been 10 months since I became a part of this garment company's family. I never think of leaving this job until the recession period returns to normal, and I never have any idea of getting into consultancy despite having solid experience like yours.
