Dear Ankita,
It is a very nice practice. We have also been following this practice for the last 6 months, and we celebrate staff birthdays and the end of the month to build relationships.
Keep it up.

Hi Ankita,
It's a very good practice for employee engagement, but as per my suggestion, we have to celebrate the birthdays on the same day. Because of that, employees will know that the management is also aware of our personal lives on a day-to-day basis. If you are going to celebrate the birthdays at the end of every month, that means you are collecting data once a month. However, if you do this on the same day, there will be some enjoyment for that day, and we have to celebrate with the help of our colleagues.
For the celebration of birthdays, I follow a practice of displaying notices on notice boards regarding birthday celebrations one day before. Everyone signs on it to wish the individual, and for the celebration itself, our department contributes for a cake, and the birthday person hosts a snacks party for all department employees.

Ankita,
Mr. Negi is absolutely right. However, I would like to add to his advice. Instead of sending an email on the day of the birthday, I would suggest you send it one day prior - that is, before leaving the office in the evening. This way, once everyone reaches the office the next day, the first thing they will notice in their mailbox is the birthday email.
Additionally, you can start distributing birthday gifts on the actual birthday itself.
Regards,
Sachin :)

Hey Ankita,
Celebrating birthdays is a very good practice. It shows the employees that they are cared for. What I follow is:
1. A nice email which has good quotes on birthdays & a nice picture. (The picture can be anything related to birthdays, like a flower). This email goes out promptly at 9:00 a.m. from my inbox to everybody in the organization, with a cc to the birthday boy/girl.
2. On the actual day, we cut a cake for the person along with drinks and a few snacks.
3. A birthday card is given to him/her, signed by his colleagues.
I don't see why anybody would want to celebrate their birthday at the end of the month. Do you think the objective will be accomplished? At least, I don't see it.
Your call at the end of the day.

Hi,
You can send the list of birthday buddies every month to all with the birthdays mentioned against their names (Please do not mention the year of birth. Date and Month are enough).
Along with the list, you can send the horoscope of the star signs (for that particular month) or significance of the birthdates, etc. You can get the data from a Google search.
You can celebrate the birthday party on the last day of every month. You can provide a big cake for all the buddies and have them cut the cakes. You can also organize some funny games to make them feel happy. :-P
Attached here are some samples.
Hope it would be useful for you.
Best Wishes,

Hi,
We celebrate month-end birthday parties, and all employees look forward to it! The cake and chips are funded by the company, whereas other refreshments are arranged by the birthday boys/girls for the particular month. The birthday greeting is sent to the employee on the very day of his/her birthday.
At times, we also plan small games like 1-minute events, etc., which we conduct during the party.

We celebrate birthdays of our employees daily. An email is sent to the concerned employee with his/her department and management in "cc".
The format of the email is:
Dear Employee (Name)

Happy Birthday To You

Well, celebrating birthdays in an organization is a very good practice. In my opinion, you should actually celebrate an employee's birthday on the same day because this will add more pleasure and happiness to their existing mindset. As Dipti mentioned, you can put up a chart in the recreation room or on a notice board where everyone can sign it. Later, you can frame it and gift it to the employee. I think this will be the best gift anyone can ever receive. What do you say about it?
Instead of sending them e-greetings, you can always give them handwritten greetings because e-greetings generally last for 30 days, but an original greeting will remain with the person forever. You can also collect everybody's signatures on it and change the practices every year.

Hi,
I totally agree with Shark. The main intention of celebrating a birthday is to make the associate feel that the management is also giving importance to his/her personal life. Celebrating on the same day gives more pleasure to the birthday boy/girl, and at the same time, the co-employees will also enjoy. We cannot get the same enjoyment when we celebrate on some other day. Moreover, most of the employees will not feel good if we celebrate on some other day.
Thanks,

Hi,
If you have a limited staff, it may be possible to have a celebration, but if the number of employees is too large, it may not be practical to do so. The best method is to send birthday greetings through a letter, which the employee receives first thing in the morning upon reporting on duty. The text of the letter may be changed every three or six months, just to give it a personal touch. We must make sure that any practice we are starting continues in the future as well. It is for this reason advisable to keep it simple and workable.

Hi all,
I am also of the same opinion as many of you have said that a birthday should be celebrated on that day itself and not at the month's end. That robs the occasion of its charm. Also, I feel that along with the mail, if you could also call that person up and wish him/her personally, that will be even better. I have tried it myself and have got tremendous results.

Hi all,
I also think that birthdays should be celebrated on that day itself and not at the month-end; otherwise, it robs the occasion of all its charms. Also, I feel if you could wish the person personally over the phone (in case the employee sits in some other branch office), that would be great. I have tried that myself and have got tremendous results. It makes the employees feel very good.

Dear Ankita,
You can prepare a list of birthdays and put it on the notice board so that every employee is aware of the number of birthdays falling in the same month. Simultaneously, you can send birthday wishes on his/her birthday on the same day through email or a letter on behalf of the management and inform every employee that his/her birthday will be celebrated on the same day before half an hour of closing the day.
Yes, I know you will ask about the cost involved in that. I do not know what is practiced in your organization. You can make a policy that every employee will contribute a certain amount for the celebration so that you can buy something for him/her. This way, you can create a friendly atmosphere in the organization.
All the best.

A card signed by everyone. A nice birthday prank - like making the person feel a little scared/nervous/confused. For example, you could tell the birthday person that the management has decided to hold a separate meeting along with the birthday boy/girl and the HR. Ask them to be prepared and prepare a report on all that they have been doing in the last week: last log-in web page and time and last email sent, and a list of websites they usually visit. This can be asked just one hour before the meeting.
After the person reaches the room, let all the lights be switched off. When he switches on the light, everyone can be present in the room with a cake to celebrate!!! And finally, the card signed by everyone! :-D :-D :-D :-) PS: Let me know if you'd need more pranks LOLLLL.

We put up notices here for celebrities on their birthdays in the "Employee corner" on a daily basis. We walk to the employee with a pre-printed card and greet them on the floor to say "Happy Birthday." This personalized attention is better than sending emails. We also encourage other employees to clap and sing the Happy Birthday song.
Thank you!
