Hi people, what is SHRM actually? Can you tell me a few companies where it is being implemented and do companies really pay heed to SHRM? I mean to say, is HR allowed to participate in the frontline business. Please reply ASAP as I am doing a project on this. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Hi,
This is very much in line with strategic management. HRM in an organization is aligned with the overall strategic plan of the organization. This also includes a SWOT analysis for HR. If an organization practices HR audit, it would greatly benefit the SHRM aspect.
Since I am from Sri Lanka, I am unaware of which organizations in your country are practicing this.

Thank you. I'll get in touch with you regarding this. It seems as if you have great knowledge about HRM. Experience speaks louder than words.

Not just for HRM, but for any other management also, you have 3 levels of operations: Technical, Tactical, and Strategic. Strategic is the highest level of management and essentially deals with planning and decision-making. Planning is for innovation and betterment, whereas decision-making is for the middle and lower management.
A few of the most important parts contributing to strategic HRM are job designing, competency mapping, employee engagement, evolution of leadership skills in the organization, and many more. If you are working on a project on SHRM, then I think you are asked to concentrate more on the overview of the 2 basic parts of SHRM as I mentioned earlier. If that is not the case, try to narrow down the topic and conduct more research on a part of SHRM.
