HR in Qatar is developing now, but it is still not very much developed. In MNCs and in a few sectors like banking and oil & gas, HR practices are quite developed, but in other sectors, it is just admin functions.

Dear Folks,

It's good that we have someone to share our thoughts and queries. I believe that we are far from the HR perspective compared to other countries, at least from India. A lot of development is required as here we have the traditional administrative role to be played. I hope that a few years down the line, we should improve.

Hi all,

It's good to see that most of the companies in Qatar are now looking to establish HR policies and procedures. To frame any policy, we need to consider the following:

1. Company's purpose and its importance to employees.
2. Qatar Labor Law.
3. Method of implementation.
4. Practicality of implementation.
5. People responsible for implementation.
6. Scope of your policy.
7. Most importantly, you need to have a strong database of employee details.

Once you are ready with the above, you can start. This is my suggestion based on my successful involvement in policy development and implementation.

Regards,
Deepak

I am currently in Qatar on a husband sponsor visa and carry 4.5 years of HR generalist experience in India. The most common interview question that I face is if I am well-versed with Qatar Labor laws. On the same subject matter, I have been able to go through the PDF formats of QLL on various sites available but am not sure if this would be enough to get an HR job as I have been unable to secure one. So, I was looking forward if you could guide me on the same:

1. Courses/Training on Qatar labor law available in Qatar
2. What points I should be aware of on QLL so that I am well-prepared for an HR job

Please find attached my CV too. I would be grateful if you could let me know the areas where I need to improve.

Awaiting a positive reply.

Regards,
Leena

I am new to Qatar, and my company needs to start the HR policies and procedures now. Can you please suggest what types of policies are applicable for a construction company? Also, could you provide information on the labor law relevant to the same?

I am looking forward to your positive reply.
