Hi, :)
I am planning on a master's program and since I am interested in training and development, I was suggested the ISTD Diploma from Delhi. I would like to know if I can do an MBA and a diploma simultaneously. If yes, then which is a good MBA program (correspondence)? I have shortlisted ICFAI. What do you guys say? Any better suggestions?
Waiting for some more info,
Savitha Shivakumar.

Hi Savitha,
ISTD is an 18-month Diploma program. It is through correspondence. From time to time, you need to join the contact classes that are optional. It will give you insight into only Training and Development.
MBA will cover all other subjects like Marketing, Finance, Statistics, Quality, Economics, IT, HR (Personnel, HRD, Labour Acts)...
In my opinion, you should opt for an MBA, where you can specialize in HR and choose T & D as your core subject in the final year.
Now, have you decided?
Take care.
Cheers,

Hi Savita,
First and foremost, I appreciate your efforts to obtain knowledge. Pursuing an MBA will always help you attain higher levels in any organization. If you are planning for a two-year full-time course, it will be great. Otherwise, if you can spare one year, you can look into an Executive MBA, which can be completed within one year. If you are planning to only do correspondence, it will be better if you can look into institutes like XLRI and Symbiosis. They offer distance programs. To my knowledge, XLRI will be the best if you are planning to specialize in HR.

Hi there,
I would like to know more about XLRI's 1-year (or 6-month) program. I am currently pursuing my final year of MBA in HR, but I am interested in enhancing my HR degree. If you could share some knowledge, it would be completely beneficial for me.
Warm regards,
