Can anyone share any best practices or tips on how to develop great relationships with team members and senior management? How do you develop a rapport with the typical autocratic type of managers or as other people would identify them as "mean managers"?
What qualities, other than the typical (above and beyond, team players), do senior management look for when they are looking to promote?

Hi all,
I do not know how to rate "YES MEN" in any organization. I have just one question for all the "YES MEN."
DO YOU GET PAID FOR NODDING YOUR HEAD? OR FOR SAYING YES TO EVERYTHING YOUR BOSS SAYS.
I wonder if such people have any grey matter at all.

Hi Shyamli,
There are ways to say "YES." Now, it depends on you how you say "YES, SIR." If you tell the boss that something is incorrect, he will address it, but if you can persuade him that your way is better, he will acknowledge your choice. Otherwise, he may criticize you. The decision is yours.

Hi Ruchi,
Nice counseling. We need your expertise in other areas of HR too. Sharing in the worst moments with any human will provide good results, as you said in the boss's case.
A very positive point you have made is showing your importance to the organization and making the boss depend on you.
Please keep writing such advice whenever you can.

Hi Ruchi,
That was a very positive comment. I think one more thing that should be included is "Never get too close to your boss." Normally, when we find our bosses appreciating or praising, there is a tendency to get too close to the boss. I guess it is a human tendency.
So, I think this should also be highlighted. If you want your boss to agree with your point of view, keep some points in mind to convince him that this might be a better option.

Hi,
Nobody can predict individual behavior or nature. One day, you may also be the boss. If your junior applies the same method, what will you do to handle the junior? So, do not use any stereotype (audio-visual) method to handle; it depends upon the nature or behavior of the individual.
Have you heard about a boss who takes you to his house for personal work? If you do not comply, what will be the result?
It is not like a song that needs a tape to start listening but needs to sing a song as per the prevailing climate (boss).

Sidheshwar

To Deal with Bosses or colleagues who have Director Style of communiation, use the following ways to communicate, it surely does help
Adopt a direct, serious tone.
Give information in “bottom line” terms.
Keep meetings short.

Hi,
I support what Kusumadhar says. When I mention being close, it should not result in us (juniors or anyone below) becoming the victim. Whatever needs to be discussed, let it be direct to the point. I understand that we will also become bosses in the future. However, as Sidheshwar mentions, we all have our individual natures. Currently, we are simply gathering the points shared by each of us so that when we become bosses, we can remember this.

Just remember one mantra: every boss has a problem that is bothering him or where he needs help. Just be vigilant about it and see how you can contribute towards reducing it. If you are not on good terms with the boss, the reason may be that you are aggravating his concerns. Keep smiling.

Dear friends,
I fully endorse Ruchi Mittal's approach. Try to search for an opportunity in every threat. As we all know, we cannot choose the people around us, be it a boss, peer, or subordinate. If you are good, everybody will at least try to change themselves and adopt your strategies. If you rebuke, I think we would be ruining our own careers. All five fingers cannot be alike. Isn't it?

Hello everyone,
I want to know what to do if the boss is not happy with your work. In my view, the only way to make him feel happy is to say "YES BOSS" at every moment and every time, whether the thing is right or wrong. It depends on how you say yes or no. There are several ways of saying yes to the boss.
In certain organizations, the boss checks whether you are only saying yes or trying to understand what you want to say. If he asks for your views on a topic and you just say yes or no by shaking your head, then he knows that there is nothing more to the person than just nodding behind him.
Remember, in a private concern, the boss is always right. Apply the formula of "Yes, Boss."
