But wherever I go for the interview and the employer when they ask about the Employee Engagement, they actually mean the amusement provided to the employees which keep them involved in different activities as generally happened in an IT firm or an BPO sector.
They generally ask about different methods , ways and approach one can adopt in the company inorder to keep employee engaged in some activities so that they can feel happy or can be retained.

community building is definitely a facet of employee engagement.
But this is not by choice but mandatory.
for instance disaster management, will the management be able to prevent and fight fires without any help from workers-- NO
so there are plenty of avenues where employees from all deptts are involved-- waste minimisation, energy conservation, Good health doesnt depend on gym alone but timely medical checkups for the entire family of the employee and safe work places. eg conduct a program on hygiene for worker's wives.
eg How many IT companies ask their employees to go in for comprehensive medical checkups every 6 months-- until this happens how does one say for sure what are health hazards in office environment and whether the expensive furniture has been validated to be ergonomic.

How one can know the different policies, employee engagement, amusement or different ways companies adopt inorder to keep their employees satisfied in India.
How one can do a comparative study of the HR policy/employee welfare/employee relation followed in India with other foreign companies.
