Dear All,

As HR professionals involved in recruitment, we often encounter fake or manipulated pay slips, causing a significant waste of time as these candidates cannot be considered genuine. I believe there will be unanimous agreement that a salary slip is a crucial financial document valued not only by HR professionals but also by financial institutions for loan approvals, credit card applications, etc. Nevertheless, some individuals underestimate the importance of salary slips and resort to manipulation.

Has anyone ever considered informing candidates that such actions could lead to serious consequences, including the possibility of filing a police report against them? Would this proactive step be effective in deterring such behavior?

Dear Friend,

Forging documents, i.e., forgery, is always a criminal offense. At the same time, ignorance of the law is no defense, so it is presumed that everybody must know the law. Intimating to employees regarding this is our duty, I think...

Fake salary slips are themselves a criminal offense if they are signed in another office's name. However, I have another question: what if organizations do not provide salary slips to employees? Even though labor laws clearly state that salary must be maintained and a format for the same is provided. The organization maintains such muster but does not provide salary slips to employees, which, as you mentioned, is a document of significant importance.

We, as HR professionals working in the same organization (which, like yours, doesn't provide salary slips), have never considered this perspective. What should an employee do if they cannot obtain a salary slip from their organization? This is not a justification for your query; I am strongly against any falsified documents.

I fully support Ms. Shah's views. I have personally suffered as a candidate. My previous employer was not giving salary slips. He was also not ready to issue a salary certificate.

Any interviewer will obviously consider such a candidate as non-genuine. What would anyone do?

Dear Ms. Shah and Astrospek,

Even if your company or organization doesn't provide the salary slip to employees, it is compulsory for them to provide it whenever demanded (Right of Information Act). If they are unwilling to provide it, you can then submit your bank statements. Typically, salaries are deposited into bank accounts rather than given by hand or in cash. Therefore, you can use your bank statements as a salary slip.

Ms. Shah, even if you are not receiving any salary slips from the organization, you should not exploit the situation by creating fake salary slips. Doing so is a criminal offense, and you will not be able to justify it in court with a flimsy explanation.

Astrospek, during interviews, if the interviewer sees you as a non-genuine candidate, it is up to you to convince them otherwise and demonstrate your authenticity.
