Hi Folks,

How do you deal with situations where candidates who have given their acceptance to attend interviews 2-3 days in advance do not turn up or call on the day to express inability? How can such scenarios be prevented? I am a recruiter from Bangalore and am facing a lot of flak from one of my clients due to this problem. Any ideas or suggestions will be welcome.

Candidate Attendance

These situations could occur:
- Demand is more than supply.
- On learning about the company, some would drop out.
- Second thoughts about leaving the current job.
Etc., etc.

You could do the following:
- Never mention the client's name.
- Offer some incentive (book, key ring, or coffee mug).
- If it is a very senior position, invite them for breakfast.
- 24 hours before the interview, ring/double-check the applicant.

For desperate situations, you should think outside the box for a solution.
