Hi all,
I am Yogesh from Pune, working in HR, and I am interested in psychological tests (aptitude, personality, and many more). Additionally, many of my friends are in the psychology field as counselors. Can anyone please help me with the psychological tests that can be implemented in HR activities? For example, the House-Tree-Person Test (HTP), Draw-A-Man Test, etc.

Hello Yogesh:
I am interested in Psychological tests (aptitude, Personality, and many more). So can anyone please help me with the psychological tests that can be implemented in HR activities.
Send me an email request for "Testing and Assessment: an Employer's Guide to Good Practices", Employment and Training Administration U.S. Department of Labor, 1999. It is a good resource for the end-user of assessments.

There are numerous psychometric instruments available in the market today. A few reputed vendors include SHL, Thomas International, PI, Cubiks, etc.
To the best of my understanding, you need to keep in mind a couple of things while selecting the tool:
1) The need for assessment
2) The cost of assessment
3) The time required for assessment
4) The ease of administration, etc.
Most importantly, business leaders must buy into the concept of psychological testing. Also, in some countries like the U.S., many of these tools cannot be used to reject people. So if you are looking to implement the tool globally, then you need to be aware of such risks as well.

Dear Yogesh,
Tests like House-Tree-Person are all projective tests and are difficult to interpret. It is better to make use of paper-and-pencil tests. For example, when evaluating personality, you can use tests like the 16PF or the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

Hi Yogesh,
This is Ambita here. I have completed my Psychometric testing certification from the British Psychological Society. It is very important that you use a valid and reliable test.
First of all, you should be very clear about the objective, whether you are using it for recruitment purposes or for developmental purposes. A good test that can be used for both is the 15FQ+, which is based on Cattell's 16PF. However, remember that it is a personality test.
If you are looking more for an ability/aptitude test, you can use the Critical Reasoning Test Battery (CRTB2) or the Technical Test Battery (TTB2), depending again on the type of ability you are trying to assess.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Sebastian, Ambee, and friends.
I have basic knowledge of psychometric tests, including projective tests, but I want to learn more about it. So, if any of you can help me out with it, I will be thankful 😊.

Hi Yogesh, If you can be more precise about what you want to know about psychometric tests, maybe I can help you out... Regards Ambita
The MBTI should not be used for selection of employees according to the MBTI publisher. We should follow a test publisher’s instructions.

It's important to first identify the need for the test. Is it being used for personal development, recruitment selection, team dynamics, cultural transformation, emotional intelligence, etc.? Each test has a different purpose and measures different things. I suggest you Google the topic and read up on some articles to give you a clearer understanding.
The tests you're asking for in your example are icebreaker, energizer, or training fun kind of tests. It's not accurate or fit for purpose.
Cheers,
Anusha

Dear All,
It was so nice to see so much input on Psychology and psychological tests. Can anybody provide me with the sample test papers for reference? I have prepared the test papers, but to give them a finishing touch, I need comparison papers. I am looking for helping hands from all my friends in the HR community, especially seeking assistance from my seniors.
