A Health and Safety Policy is a written statement by an employer stating the company's commitment for the protection of the health and safety of employees and to the public. It is a key document that demonstrates how health and safety are managed within the organization.

The policy generally contains three parts:

1. The 'statement of intent' - this is the employer's commitment to health and safety.
2. The 'organization of health and safety' - this outlines who is responsible for specific tasks within the company.
3. The 'arrangements for health and safety' - this includes the systems and procedures in place to mitigate health and safety risks.

It's important to note that the Health and Safety Policy should be specific to each organization, reflecting the nature, scale and risks of the organization's activities. It should be regularly reviewed and updated, particularly when changes occur within the business that could impact health and safety.
