Hi Team, I’m currently facing a few challenges and would appreciate your insights. As part of my role as an HR Business Partner, I’ve been conducting induction and orientation sessions during the day shift. However, many of our new hires are being onboarded for night shift roles.

I’d like to confirm if this approach is still aligned with current best practices. Has there been any change in how or when inductions should be conducted for night shift employees, particularly within the IT industry in India?

Ideally, when should induction sessions be scheduled for night shift joiners to ensure both compliance and a smooth onboarding experience?
Looking forward to your guidance.

Dear member,

You have two options: the first one is to conduct the induction training during the day shift, and after completion, on the next day, the newly joined employee can join the night shift. Otherwise, for the induction purposes, either you or someone from the HR department can do the night duty. However, this approach is fraught with challenges. Before the night shift, you cannot do the day duty. But you cannot do it after the night shift either. Therefore, the first one is the best option.

Thanks,

  • Dear member,
I am in uttar surprise to know that newly hired people put on to job without induction and orientation.
The induction and orientation sessions are being done during the day shift not in night shift.
You should finish induction and orientation of new hires first then put on them in Day or Night Shift as per your requirements.
The employees under induction means off the job, may be day or night.
The HR department can fix the three days induction in day time and three days in night, but not a right idea/option.
    Thanks,
