Dear Respected CiteHR members,

I work for a Pvt. Ltd. e-commerce company in Bengaluru and have been working here for 16 months. As part of the annual appraisal process, I'm eligible for an appraisal, and this would be my first since joining. The appraisal has been delayed by 3 months; it usually happens in April, but we are yet to have a formal one-on-one discussion with the manager even though we submitted our self-appraisal form almost 20 days ago.

Now, I have resigned from the services as I've got a better opportunity and will be leaving the organization in the 1st week of July. I would like to know if I should be a part of this appraisal since it was delayed by the company and whether I should receive arrears for the last 3 months. I wouldn't have asked for the arrears if I had resigned during the usual appraisal cycle. As it was delayed for 3 months, I would like to know if I am still eligible. Please help.

In this scenario, it is reasonable to inquire about your eligibility for the delayed appraisal process and any associated arrears. Here are some practical steps to consider:

1. Review Company Policies: Check your company's HR policies or employment contract to understand the guidelines regarding appraisals and resignations. This will provide clarity on your entitlements.

2. Seek Clarification: Approach your HR department or manager to discuss your situation formally. Request clarification on whether you are still eligible for the delayed appraisal and any associated benefits.

3. Document Everything: Keep a record of all communications, including emails, meetings, and responses received regarding your appraisal and resignation. This documentation may be useful if any disputes arise later.

4. Negotiate Amicably: If you believe you are entitled to the appraisal and arrears, negotiate professionally and amicably with your employer. Clearly present your case and seek a fair resolution.

5. Prepare for Departure: Regardless of the outcome, ensure you fulfill all necessary exit procedures and hand over responsibilities smoothly before leaving the organization.

Remember, maintaining a professional approach and open communication is key to resolving such matters effectively.
