I joined one company on 8 June 2020 and left the same on 20 Oct 2020 after serving the notice period. I had a relieving letter and an experience letter of the same dates as mentioned above. However, the company continued sending PF contributions to my PF account until Mar 2021, despite my departure on 20 Oct 2020 and subsequent joining of a new company on 21 Oct 2020. This resulted in an overlap of 6 months on the PF portal. My previous employer has acknowledged the error. How can I rectify this issue?

Service Overlapping and PF Accounts

Legally, a person can have different PF accounts at the same time. The EPF Organization cannot prevent a person from receiving a salary from two employers simultaneously. However, I don't understand why this service overlapping has been regarded as a serious crime nowadays. Suppose a person works for Company A and Company B, even if it is part-time work. They will earn a salary from both A and B on the same day. Naturally, both companies should deduct PF and pay it under two member IDs. Both accounts will be linked to one UAN. At any point, the employee can transfer funds from one member ID to another and access them. What is wrong with this? I don't see any fault in it.
