Hi, I am having an overlap of 1 month in past employment. But neither got paid nor received any salary for that month. I have FNF which clearly shows that I was at a loss of pay for my whole notice period.

Explanation of the Situation

Let me explain the whole situation. I joined company X in January 2020. After joining, I left the company due to some personal reasons and convinced my supervisor that I would not be able to serve the notice period. So, after waiting 20 days, I joined company Y where I worked for 4 years. However, when I received the supporting documents for company X, it's showing an overlap of 1 month, which is my notice period, and it is showing as a loss of pay, but the relieving date is showing an overlap.

Current Concerns

Now, I joined company Z, and they found out during the BGC after joining that I am having an overlap. They asked me for clarification, and I am really worried for the last couple of weeks about what would happen to me.

You should provide a proper explanation for the situation. At the same time, you need to check the EPF website for any overlapping. If there is an overlap, it may lead to challenges in EPF claims or transfers, which should be rectified by your first employer.

Nothing is going to happen WRT job but EPF settlements will be an issue. As the previous employer to get the same rectified

Thanks for sharing your valuable feedback. The EPF transfer is fine as they transferred the whole amount to my previous employer. I am just worried about whether my current company will consider my candidature since there is an overlap of one month, despite it being a loss of pay. I have a few doubts:

1. Can we join a new company if we are experiencing a loss of pay from the previous employer?

2. What should be the end date on the EPFO portal if you are on a loss of pay during your notice period?
