I am working in the diamond industry in the HR department. The company has several units in Gujarat, Maharashtra. I want to know what the minimum wages payable to the workers in the Diamond Industry are in Gujarat & Maharashtra.

Dear Rohit,
If the worker is not receiving the minimum wages, he may approach the Government Labour Officer/ Assistant Labour Commissioner. Upon his approach, the GLO/ALC may conduct an inquiry. If, during the inquiry, it is discovered that the employer is not paying the minimum wages to the worker, a show-cause notice will be issued to the employer as to why action should not be taken against them.
However, it is always advisable to pay at least the minimum wages to the workers.
