Dear College,
The HR practices in a home company as well as an MNC will be more or less the same. But if you want to further grow in an MNC, you need to focus on:
1. Cultural diversity and handling different talents of multicultural backgrounds, for which you need to develop exposure to different cultural patterns from various global regions.
2. You may need to gain expertise in being tech-savvy, including using various software-based HR applications such as SAP HR and others.
3. You may also need to attend various seminars to become accustomed to the multicultural environment, such as those offered by SHRM [link: https://www.shrm.org/about-shrm/pages/default.aspx] and other similar forums.
4. There are short programs offered by leading institutes on managing a multicultural workforce that you can identify and become familiar with.
5. Take the opportunity to travel whenever it is given by your organization for short-term assignments or volunteer for such options by speaking to your business leaders. Travel provides immense learning and exposure for the future. Seize every opportunity to travel to various countries and locations globally within your current organization to prepare yourself for greater heights.
