Whatever may be the type of leave, it is not usually encouraged during the notice period. If the employee takes leave, his/her notice period is usually extended. I hope the leave you are talking about is specific to your organization.
There are no hard and fast rules on this; it is at the discretion of the management to provide you leave during this period.
