Is there anybody in this forum who would like to come to our organization and give a talk on motivation? Ours is a small software company located in Whitefield, Bangalore. We have around 270 employees. I, as a training coordinator and a trainer, want to organize a talk on motivation for our employees. However, our company is not able to spend much on the same. Kindly suggest if you know anybody who could help me.

I would recommend you to be more specific on the topic. This might help you address your operational challenges or provide an eye-opening session for your employees. Explain what led you to the conclusion that your employees need a motivating session.

Hi Vijayakumar,
It's not that our employees are not motivated. However, a session on motivation would further strengthen the motivation towards work that they have. Basically, I could say it could be an eye-opener. Once in a while, having such talks will definitely boost the energy level of the employees.

Sorry, I think I made a wrong statement when I said our company cannot afford to spend much. Rather, I would like to rephrase it by asking if there is anybody who would volunteer to speak without expecting anything in return? I do not know if I am asking for too much, but I believe there is nothing wrong in trying!

Hi,
I would suggest, why don't you do the same? This will be of no extra cost to the company. If the company is willing to spend something, you can arrange some consolation gifts and food for employees at the meeting. A motivational presentation will be the best, which must include stories. Always seize the opportunity.

Reshma, my understanding is that for motivation, you should become strong and confident. Have you ever read the book 'Wings of Fire' by Sir APJ? Please read that book from start to end or read the articles by NR or Sudha Murthy. If you want those articles, I can send them to you. Try your best. Cheers, Rohit P.

I would suggest planning employee workshops. Additionally, try to identify the motivating factors for individual employees. You can then create a plan on 'how to motivate your employees, assist employees in practicing self-motivation, and track motivation levels regularly'.
I do not believe that an external motivator can sustainably influence employees' motivation levels. The impact of a 'motivation talk' may only last for hours or days.

To others, I extend my appreciations because I was overwhelmed by the responses. You all have mentored us juniors as a mother hen and always supported and encouraged us.
I am now looking at internal options. I have already proposed to the management about a counseling link where the employees, without displaying their identity, can put forth their concerns. I, having a psychology background, would go forward and do the counseling if necessary.
I have also shown them the movie "The Pursuit of Happiness."

I think, why don't you arrange an open forum for all the employees or a small get-together where employees can share their problems and you address their issues. If the grievances are solved, then people will automatically feel positively about the organization.
Another suggestion is to implement a thank you card system in the organization. It will definitely work to motivate the employees. The thank you card system works on the following criteria:
1. Make department-wise groups of people.
2. Frame rules for the exchange of thank you cards.
3. Thank you cards will be for helping each other in official work.
4. At the end of the month, whoever receives the maximum thank you cards will get a small or big gift hamper.
This will make a lot of difference in employee morale.
