My employer has not been issuing a salary slip every month. Even after requesting several times, I have been denied salary slips.

Is the issuance of a salary slip mandatory for the employer? Can I demand the salary slip from the employer?

Yes, please insist on being issued a Salary Slip. It is not just proper and fair, but it is also mandatory for the employer to issue the wage/salary slip. Pursue the matter with your HR Department and your department superiors, reminding them that it is lawful, legitimate, ethical, and an act of transparency.

It is shocking that even transactional matters like the issue of salary slips are an issue nowadays.

A worker has the right to know his total earnings and deductions, if any, from the earnings. It is binding on the employer to provide the worker with a salary slip every month. What is the reason for this denial? Is the employer paying according to the minimum wage of your state?

Wage Slip Requirements Under Indian Labor Laws

Under the Contract Labour Regulation and Abolition Act, Form XIX Rule 78(1)(b), and under Minimum Wages Rules, a Wage Slip is mandatory. While the Factories Act, Standing Orders Act, Equal Remuneration Act, and other similar acts mention wage registers, deduction, and penalty registers, the employment contract signifies the agreement between an employee and the employer, wherein the employer commits to paying the employee for their services. Therefore, the employee has the right to know how they have been remunerated and what deductions have been made.

You can submit an application to your employer requesting a statement of earnings and deductions. If your employer denies this request, you may escalate the matter to the labor authority, especially if you suspect unfair wage practices.
