Employment History and Overlap Issue
I have a total of 6 years of experience in IT, and the company for which I work is my 3rd company. Let's assume A, B, and C.
Company A - March 2012 to May 2013
Company B - June 2013 to July 02, 2015
Company C - July 01, 2015 to Present
I received an offer from a new company (assume D) but did not receive my offer letter. While verifying my documents, HR from Company D found an overlap in my employment history and suggested that I correct this by either changing the last working date in Company B or by adjusting the date of joining in Company C.
Details of the Overlap
To provide some context, my actual last working date in Company B was June 29, 2015. However, a week after I joined Company C, HR from Company B sent me the relieving and experience letters with July 02, 2015, as my last working date, despite me already joining Company C on July 01, 2015. The service delivery manager informed me that due to some issues, my last working date was extended to July 02, 2015. This situation is the biggest mistake of my life as I was unaware of the consequences. Additionally, HR from Company B mentioned that I filled in the timesheet, but I do not recall doing so up to July 02, 2015.
Efforts to Resolve the Issue
Regarding the first paragraph, based on the advice from HR at Company D, I sent an email to Company B requesting to change the last working date on the relieving and experience letters. I also contacted HR in my current company C to inquire about changing the date of joining due to the overlap. HR from Company C responded the following day stating that the date of joining cannot be altered, and I must resolve this matter with Company B and submit the corrected letter to them. HR from Company B also replied, indicating that they cannot modify the date on the letter as it was approved by HR at that time.
I am in a very difficult situation and require your assistance urgently. Please help me!

"I don't really remember if I filled the timesheet until 2nd July 2015," (this part, I don't understand). If you joined Company C on 1st July, then there is no possibility of you reporting to B on that date. Maybe you went to B to collect documents on the morning of 2nd July, swiped your card at the gate, hence the timesheet has recorded it as 2nd July.
Tell the same to Company D and try to convince them. In case their employee portal doesn't allow the dates to be entered like this, mention the last date as 2nd July 2015 in B and the first day as 3rd July 2015 in Company C. It's not as big of a trouble as you fear. Don't worry.

In private employment, if your current employer really wants you, they can accept your explanation and forget the issue. However, in public employment, it may have an impact on the continuity of service. Keep trying for rectification.
