Hi, I recently joined a company. They are currently entering attendance manually in an Excel sheet, using some formulas. I have noticed several mistakes in the sheet, and the HR department has assigned me the task of creating a more accurate Attendance sheet in Excel. Friends, please assist me with this issue and share the best method for maintaining attendance.
Thanks & Regards, Sunitha.

Hi Sunitha,
Entering the attendance in an Excel sheet will definitely require some formulas at the time of payroll processing. Prepare a sheet in Excel with the following headers:
1. Employee Code
2. Employee Name
3. Designation
4. Date of Joining
5. Start by entering 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on until the last date of the month.
6. Below the date, mark P for present, A for absent, L for Leave, W for week off, and H for Holidays. After filling the data, use the COUNTIF formula to calculate the number of A's as well as the number of L's. This information will be used for payroll processing.
Hope this has given you a good idea to proceed.
Regards,
Amit Seth.

Dear Sunitha,
The attendance register is a statutory document, and the requisite information needs to be filled to avoid legal problems at a later date. The printed format of attendance details is available in any bookstore as per the act, so you may acquire an attendance register and start recording the attendance of your office.
