One of our employees has joined in March '18. He has submitted his previous company's UAN Number to continue the same account here. After that, we processed one month's contribution to that account. Now, he wants to claim his previous PF account withdrawal for an emergency. Can we create a new UAN for this person again? If it is possible to claim the previous account, please guide me on how it can be claimed.

Dear Anamika,
From Bangalore - UAN means Universal Account Number. You have rightly linked his UAN to your portal consequent to joining your establishment. You should not create a new UAN because he already has a UAN. Furthermore, the previous EPF membership amount has to be transferred to the present account.
During employment, the PF amount cannot be withdrawn, including the previous account, if any.
