Hi All
I am pursuing my M.Sc. in Psychology from University of Madras through distance education. I had spent 5 years in Training and Development, Counselling etc. I have handwriting analysis skills also. Also I am pursuing my MBA in HR from Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar.
But I am presently working as Sr. Associate for Accounts and Finance, which is a different area altogether.
Can anyone guide me with the career prospects in Counselling. What can be my pathway to a bright career and future?
Please guide me.

Thank you for your guidance.
I had been doing counselling for patients, and students and people in general. I was not having so much indepth knowledge about these different areas of counselling. But surely this has made me think about my choices.
Employee / Child / Psychiatric / Career counselling is something where I can work.
Can you please guide me further if there can be a good career with Employee counselling, as I am already pursuing MBA in HR and also I have knowledge of Graphology.
Also if you can give me your id, or mail me at my id: , we can continue sharing our views.
Once again many thanks for your guidance.

Hi Neeru,
I have been in counseling and supporting people who are depressed and suicidal for past 15 years.
For psychiatric counseling, you need to have a degree in clinical psychology. For other ares, it would be helpful to do a one year course in counseling skills which a lot of institutes are offering.
Another way would be to join an NGO that is into counseling like 'Sumaitri' in Delhi. They give good training although it is befriending and not counseling but the experience is good.

Thank you Madhu.
Can you share your profile - educational and professional qualification and your work profile, please as I think it will give me more clarity to shape my career.
Also, please guide me further that with my inclination towards counselling, do I need to make some particular selection in my M.Sc. Second year of Psychology.
Awaiting your response
