Hi revered seniors,
I was suddenly and unexpectedly fired from my job, which I had worked at for 5 years, for no reason and was asked to leave the same day. They paid me for my notice period of two months in lieu. However, I find it difficult to believe that senior managers in India can be fired from jobs despite great on-the-job performance and commitment. Is this legal? I was promoted thrice in 5 years due to my good performance. In the end, it was all about not being subservient to the new, unworthy supervisor. Is it still legal?

Dear Apruva,
When there are differences with the newly joined CEO or VP, etc., these things happen. Since the separation was under the purview of your appointment letter, it leaves little room for objection. Newly joined persons show authority by resorting to these extreme steps so that they can send a signal to one and all to fall in line. On-spot removal or sudden removal of seniors is common everywhere. India is no different. Let us not forget that in one of the MNCs in the USA, the CEO was removed by sending an SMS through one of the board members. Since you have not given the background of the case, it will not be possible to comment on the fairness of your removal.
Thanks,

How do we initiate a process to amend the law to protect white-collar workers? We also sacrifice a lot - personal time, family events, hobbies, and other passions to concentrate and deliver on our jobs. How is it fair that we can be thrown out with a snap of fingers? That too without a reason and any severance package!

Hi, I have been terminated for a bogus reason citing disciplinary action. I have completed 7 years of service. A complaint has been filed before the Labour Commissioner Central. My questions are:
1. Can gratuity be paid to me without the submission of Form I by me?
2. What would be the compensation if their termination procedure and reason are found false by the court and management refuses reinstatement?
