Dear Seniors,

I have 12 years of experience in the construction field as an admin-Compliance. I am responsible for maintaining and monitoring the records and registers as per the Contract Labor Act, BOCW Act, and ISM Act for our laborers and workers.

Currently, I have an offer in a factory (Sugar & chemical mill) as an admin. My question is, what is the difference between Construction Admin versus Factory Admin? Please guide me.

Are you not satisfied with your current profile and pay terms? If yes, you must grasp this opportunity without any delay. You have 12 years of experience in administration, which will be beneficial for your administrative role.

Understanding the Manufacturing Sector

Since the Sugar Unit is in the manufacturing sector and has a seasonal nature, you will need to be highly engaged, as the production activities run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, it offers a good working environment. You must be prepared to be successful with new assignments, so go ahead. Congratulations again!

Making an Informed Decision

Remember to compare your current employer with a potential progressive employer, considering their work culture before making a decision.

Thanks

Understanding the Role of a Factory Admin

What I assume and guess is that the Factory Act deals with the process of manufacturing, thus involving machinery and equipment for processes, maintenance of various facilities like the ambulance room, canteen, etc., and safety equipment like headgear and eyewear. It involves compliance with environmental laws, tree plantations, etc.

As an admin, you may have to coordinate all these functions such as purchases of equipment, machinery, real estate, vehicles, gardens, canteen, etc. However, the basic skills will remain more or less the same, such as coordination, liaising, security, property maintenance, etc. Hope this gives you an idea.

It is not clear from your post whether your experience as an administrator in the previous industry and your present role as an administrator of a sugar and chemical factory pertain to overall administration or only to labor administration. If it is the latter, as M/s Raj Dubey and Saikumar mentioned, it makes no difference in your administrative responsibilities other than the management of seasonal employees and liaison with trade unions. If it pertains to overall administration, you have additional responsibilities as Mr. Saikumar mentioned, such as environmental issues, matters concerning plant and machinery, timely acquisition of sugar cane from farmers, and settlement of their dues.
