Hi,

We need to issue a Show Cause notice to the driver as he is not following the rules and regulations expected of a driver. This includes drinking during working hours, disobeying the orders of seniors, fighting with people during work hours, and taking the company-owned car home without permission. Please check the attachment and advise on any necessary amendments.

I have two immediate comments on your post. Requesting a correction after sincerely attempting to make a show cause notice first from your side, before seeking the opinion of others, needs to be appreciated.

The draft you have posted could have been better. Read your first sentence again. Do you really want to issue a show cause notice to the driver for following the rules? See how the meaning conveyed becomes opposite when 'NOT' is missing. The other sentences are also poorly drafted without even checking the spelling. Please take some more minutes to check in the future before clicking the post button.

Does the driver know English? Please provide a translated version in a language that he understands. Make sure you have strong, reliable evidence for the charges made against him. Get an acknowledgment in the first place before expecting any reply.

I have made some corrections and posted them in track change mode so that you can understand the suggested corrections and changes.

Regards, V. Raghunathan

Hi Anonymous, Do you really want to keep a person who is absolutely unfit for work. The qualities of the driver you mentioned may be hazardous to other employees as well.

Specific Details Matter

I would recommend that you write the exact time, such as 11 am, instead of saying 'around' 11 am. Similarly, mention the time when the car was taken for personal use, with whom he had arguments, and on which date and time and in whose presence. If you only say that the driver used to have arguments with others, the charges cannot be proved.

Handling Intoxication Incidents

One very important thing is that immediately when you saw this person in an intoxicated condition in the parking area, you should not have let him go or allowed the driver to take the vehicle in that condition. Instead, you should have taken him to the General Hospital and conducted an alcohol test. This is proof. If you had allowed him to take the vehicle in a drunken condition, sometimes, you can be charged for allowing this fellow to do so. Therefore, make sure that the driver did not take the vehicle on that day.
