Can anyone, due to health reasons, take a sabbatical? One of my employees is on continuous leave due to health reasons. In case we need to retain the employee, can the person take a sabbatical for some time?

"Sabbatical leave" is granted when an employee wants to pursue higher studies. Upon completion of the study, he/she can rejoin. Companies provide sabbatical leave so that employees can pursue higher education, and when they rejoin, the employee understands the company's culture well. However, your case is different. The employee cannot resume duties due to a medical problem. In that case, why not keep the employee on the company's rolls and not remove him/her? Employees can take "Leave Without Pay" (LWP) for as many days as the company is willing to spare. Since there is no payment to the employee, there is no question of payment for PF, ESI, or PT.
