Hi,

Can anyone please tell me if the salary offered to the candidate really needs to be mentioned in the offer letter? Because anyway, we are supposed to provide a clear breakdown of the salary in the appointment letter. So, is it necessary to include the same information in the offer letter as well?

Yeah, it is good practice to include all such details in the offer letter. However, nowadays, I have observed many candidates negotiating based on the offer letter with another company, stating that they have an offer from a certain company with a specific package (xyz), and consequently not joining after confirmation as well.

An offer letter is an offer for a job. It is the basis on which the candidate will leave their job and come to your company.

Do you think it makes sense to give it without specifying the amount of salary you will be giving? It is not necessary to specify the breakup, but providing the CTC makes sense. Candidates will always use offer letters to negotiate with others; just because of that, you can't make the offer letter meaningless.
